Ribwort and Broadleaf Plantain have very similar properties and growing conditions.  Perennial herbs that grow well in full sun - part shade, in moist, well draining soil.  Height up to 30cm for Broadleaf and up to 60cm for Ribwort.

One of the easiest herbs to grow, and readily found in populated Australian landscapes.  Commonly sown in perennial pasture mixes (both horse and cattle) with deep roots accessing a wide range of minerals.  Nutritious for horses, but should not be the staple or dominant in pastures.  ***Can become invasive, particularly in moist soils.

Plantain (both Ribwort and Broadleaf) is a centuries old go-to for bites, stings, wounds & inflamed tissues - inside and out!  Great for sprains, bruises and connective tissue issues too.

Super hardy plant where leaves can be grabbed right there in the field, crushed up in your hands and applied directly to the skin, with very fast relief at hand.

🧐 Did you know that the seed heads are used to make psyllium husks!?  Collect (fresh or dry) and throw in the bucket to soothe tummy's.

A great plant to incorporate in pastures (self seeds readily), along track edges (where applicable) or in the medicine garden… so many uses!

Plantain is an absolute MUST HAVE on horse properties!

Easy to grow - great for non-green thumbs 😜
