Tagasaste (Chamaecytisus palmensis) also know as ‘Tree Lucerne’
excellent source of protein (up to 25%) similar to lucerne
legume/nitrogen fixing
high in vit A
deep roots provide good mineral content (in leaves) in non drought areas
evergreen feed source
can be browsed hard (up to 70%)
can be cut and fed (fresh or dried)
great for windbreak & firebreak
 
Fast growing evergreen shrub.  Grows up to 5m.  Tolerates a wide range of soils.  Handles drought conditions and moderately frost tolerant once established.   Prefers Full sun Excellent for browsing, coppicing, drought feed (fresh or dried).   Can be invasive in some areas, minimise this by harvesting before it sets seed.
